After a long day, a soak in a hot bath is just what you need! This DIY Lavender Bath Melt Recipe is so easy to make! It is also simple to mix it up a bit by using your favorite scent of essential oil or essential oil blend to make your own custom DIY bath melts, see below for some more ideas!

To help you relax and rejuvenate, the lavender oil has a calming effect along with the warm bathwater. The moisturizing oil combination will help with dry skin, especially in the winter months! A perfect combination to help with dry skin and to ease your stress!

Simply drop a lavender bath melt or two under warm running water and enjoy your relaxing quiet time in the tub. While you soak in the hot water, the oils provide moisturizing skin care in a luxurious way. For a romantic touch, add some rose petals to the warm water!

Once you make these, you may want to try and mix up the recipe a bit. Have fun with it and make your own bath melt creation!

Perhaps adding a different essential oil in your favorite scent such as vanilla, sweet orange, eucalyptus or jasmine! You could add mint leaves, rose or calendula petals, tea leaves like green tea or even matcha or chamomile flowers instead of the lavender buds. You could also switch out the sweet almond carrier oil for other good carrier oils such as coconut, jojoba or evening primrose oil.

    Bath Melts vs Bath Bombs

What exactly are bath melts and how do they differ from bath bombs you might ask? Bath melts are more moisturizing and usually made from plant butter and oils as it's base and they are not fizzy.

A bath bomb is a fizzy salt based concoction that may have a small amount of oil in it but is mostly comprised of baking soda and/or citric acid so it lacks the moisturizing effect that a bath melt will have. See my DIY Rose Heart Bath Bombs Recipe!

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE DIY LAVENDER BATH MELTS:

First you will need to collect your materials and clear a space where you can work on this project and get a little bit messy. You may want to work on a cookie sheet to help limit the mess.

This tutorial makes 12 bath melts if using the same mold that I have linked to below. If you want to make more than 12, consider doubling or tripling the recipe. Extra bath melts would be a great gift idea!

supplies needed to make lavender bath melts, shea butter in a bowl, almond oil in a bowl, vitamin e oil in a bowl, lavender essential oil, lavender buds and a flower shaped silicone mold

    Supplies List:

    ●      1 cup shea butter

    ●      2 tablespoon sweet almond oil

    ●      1 teaspoon vitamin E oil

    ●      30 drops lavender pure essential oil

    ●      1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers or buds

    ●      Flower shaped silicone mold

How to Make DIY Lavender Bath Melts

    Directions:

    Step 1:

    • Add the shea butter to a microwave safe measuring cup with a spout and heat in 30 second intervals, until fully melted, stirring between each heat session.

    Step 2:

a hand holding a bowl of almond oil with the rest of the ingredients for the lavender bath melts shown below

    • Add sweet almond oil and vitamin E oil, stir well.

    Step 3:

a hand holding a bottle of lavender essential oil over a container of melted shea butter and a bowl of lavender buds

    • Add lavender essential oil and stir until blended.

    Step 4:

    • Set mold on a cutting board or plate.

    Step 5:

a bowl of lavender buds next to a flower shaped silicone mold with a pinch of lavender buds placed in several of the molds

    • Add a few lavender buds to the bottom of each mold, then pour mixture of oils in. (the lavender will naturally float to the top)

pouring the melted shea butter and oils mix into the silicone mold

    Step 6:

    • Place mold in the freezer for one hour to set, then unmold.

    Step 7:

    • For best results, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or a cool place and keep them out of direct sunlight. Because they are made with shea butter, the do need to be kept cool to keep their shape!
