Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • Cut the 10 Tablespoons of cold butter into flour mixture until well incorporated and holds it shape when squeezed.
  • Add egg to mixture and combine.
  • Gently stir in butter milk until dough has formed.
  • Roll dough into 24 one inch balls.
  • Cut 7 string cheese sticks into 24 bite size pieces.
  • Take each piece of cheese and press it into the middle of the dough, then press the dough around the cheese and roll into a ball again.
  • Shape dough balls into a Christmas tree on baking sheet. One ball for the tree trunk, four balls on the bottom row of the tree, three balls on the next row, then 2 and then finally one ball for the top.
  • There will be enough balls to make two smaller trees as shown in the photos, or you can make one larger tree.
  • Once the tree (or trees) is/are shaped, melt butter and add garlic.
  • Brush rolls with garlic butter and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
