Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
Cut the 10 Tablespoons of cold butter into flour mixture until well incorporated and holds it shape when squeezed.
Add egg to mixture and combine.
Gently stir in butter milk until dough has formed.
Roll dough into 24 one inch balls.
Cut 7 string cheese sticks into 24 bite size pieces.
Take each piece of cheese and press it into the middle of the dough, then press the dough around the cheese and roll into a ball again.
Shape dough balls into a Christmas tree on baking sheet. One ball for the tree trunk, four balls on the bottom row of the tree, three balls on the next row, then 2 and then finally one ball for the top.
There will be enough balls to make two smaller trees as shown in the photos, or you can make one larger tree.
Once the tree (or trees) is/are shaped, melt butter and add garlic.
Brush rolls with garlic butter and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
