Welcome back to 5 Things Friday for 4/6/18! I will try to post one thing for each of these categories: Homestead Garden, Homestead Critters, Homestead Kitchen, Homesteader Entertainment and Personal a thing from my Homesteader life. These may be handy gadgets, recipe's, quotes or moments in time. I hope you will all share some of your Friday Favorites with me as well!
Homestead Gardening Favorite:
My absolute favorite gardening tool for weeding, the Cobra Head.
This week, my 5 Things Friday favorite gardening thing is this Cobra Head gardening tool. It is hands down my most favorite garden tool.
It gets out those big weeds so easily, and turn it on its side, and scrape the hook along the top of the soil, and it pulls out all those newly germinated weeds. Use the hook to dig your small holes for transplanting small plants.
So easy to use, it is my go to tool when doing garden bed clean up. It will certainly be getting a lot of use this month as I tackle my April To Do List on the homestead.
The cobra head tool in action. Hook it in behind the weed, and pull. Easy Peasy. The weed will pop right out.
Homestead Critters Favorite:
Our young blue laced red Wyandotte cockerel from last years hatch
This week, my 5 Things Friday favorite critter thing is our flock of Blue Laced Red Wyandotte's. Wyandotte's are a great breed for families to start with and they are the perfect bird for a homestead.
They are docile, relatively quiet and dual purpose, which means they are great egg layers but can also be used for meat. Never mind that they are BEAUTIFUL! Who doesn't want a little eye candy on their homestead? I love this variety, and hatching baby chicks from flock is always a treat!

Homestead Kitchen Favorite:
My kitchen favorite this week, my Rae Dunn Coffee Mugs....don't be afraid to Dream and Create!
My 5 Things Favorite Kitchen item thing this week are my Rae Dunn coffee mugs. Have you caught on to this craze? I only have these two, and I love them.
They are just the right size for all my many cups of tea, and I love the "Dream" and "Create" motifs on them. I saw a bunch of posts on Instagram of people collecting her pieces and creating cute little vignettes with them all. I finally broke down and bought these two for myself and I am so glad I did.
Homesteader Entertainment Favorite:
My 5 Things Favorite entertainment thing this week has been watching American Idol again. I am just a sucker for that show and I am so glad they brought it back! This week they narrowed it down to the top 24, and man, there is a lot of talent in that group! I still have about 5 or 6 favorites, but narrowing it down more than that is really really hard. Are you watching? Do you have a favorite?
Personal Homesteader Life Favorite:
My 5 Things Favorite personal favorite is that this is the beginning of spring break for my youngest, so no more waking up at the crack of dawn to make sure she is up and leaving on time for school!
As Always, Thanks for Stopping By!
