Welcome back to 5 Things Friday! I hope you all had a great week! Please comment with one of your favorite things that happened this week, or something that you are thankful for. 🙂 Every Friday I aim to post about 5 of my favorite things that week. I will try to post one thing for each of these categories: Homestead Garden, Homestead Critters, Homestead Kitchen, Homesteader Entertainment and Personal a thing from my Homesteader life. These may be handy gadgets, recipe's, quotes or moments in time. I hope you will all share some of your Friday Favorites with me as well!
Homestead Gardening Favorite:
This week, my 5 Things Friday favorite gardening item, more seeds of course! Yes, I had to place another order, as I was figuring out what I wanted to plant for peppers and tomatoes this year, some of my favorites were almost gone. And then some other things just happened to fall into my cart as well....you know how that goes......ahem. Yes. ANYWAY. It is all about seeds here at the moment. I am hoping to get my own tomato seeds planted this weekend, and then I will start taking order for pepper and tomato starts next week from local peeps. Check out my Seed Starting 101 Series if you need some tips on how to successfully plant your seeds indoors!
Homestead Critters Favorite:
This week, my 5 Things Friday favorite critter thing, is the new electric fence we have decided to put up to protect our chickens. We don't have it yet, technically, but it is in the works. Our last ducks got eaten by what we are pretty sure are raccoons. Last year they took out quite a few of our chickens. And once they get one, they keep coming back trying for more. We've beefed up all the coops, but I am still nervous those tenacious little buggers will find a way in. Electric fencing should keep them out. And I am feeling very relieved about that.
Homestead Kitchen Favorite:
My 5 Things Favorite Kitchen item: My DD and her husband are trying to eat a Paleo diet and make these really yummy chocolate chip cookies using almond flour as the base. Oh my! They were so good! I loved them! My Hubby and younger daughter, not so much. Which was fine, cause it left more for me! HA! But I forgot to take pictures as they didn't last very long. Maybe next time! Check out the recipe from Lauren at Oatmeal on a Fork here: The Best Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever (and they are vegan too! Which is always an added bonus in my book. )
Homesteader Entertainment Favorite:
My 5 Things Favorite entertainment.....Survivor! So excited for this season! After reading over the cast info, I have decided to root for Wendell. Who do are you rooting for? We are long time fans of the show and it is the one show that the family comes together to watch. I like that of course too.
Personal Homesteader Life Favorite:
My 5 Things Favorite personal favorite, is hanging out with friends tonight, having dinner with them and playing cards! Looking forward to kicking back and having a good time with them.
Happy Friday to you and yours! Please comment below and let me know at least one thing you are thankful for on this Friday! And have a great weekend!
